Hungarian Cholent (stew)
Serves 15
Ingredients
1 full package short ribs (or any type of meat with bone on it)
½ onion, sliced
Garlic powder to taste
Paprika to taste
Pepper to taste
2 cups of rinsed mixed pinto, navy, and red beans
½ cup pearl barley
1 teaspoon salt
2 peeled and cubed potatoes
Directions:
1. In a crockpot, stew meat with onion and spices for 2 hours on low heat.
2. Add beans and barley
3. Cover with water until 1 – ½ inches above beans
4. Add salt and potatoes (add kishke if desire)
5. Cook on low flame overnight
